NH Stonewall Democrats Mission Statement
NH Stonewall Democrats seeks to work towards a New Hampshire
where LGBT persons are treated equally under the law and guaranteed full justice. We seek an America where all people are
valued members of a community that embraces diversity and each person's unique gifts and intrinsic worth, and where we are
active and influential participants in the public affairs of the state.
NH Stonewall Democrats
exists to provide an organization and the tools for like-minded Democrats in our state to:
1.
Provide active support and voice to the LGBT community of New Hampshire
2. Press for continued
progress, and be staunch advocates for LGBT rights, issues and concerns, before government and the public, by
A. Identifying issues of importance
to the LGBT community and working to promote positive politcal startegy and legislation regarding those issues.
B. Identifying potentially damaging
or negative legislation as it relates to our lives and work to defeat it.
C. Participating in community events and activities.
D. Providing social gatherings and networks
for LGBT people.
3. Promote and increase LGBT participation and influence in all
elective and appointive areas of all levels of government and campaigns by
A. Actively participating in Democratic party events and activites
B. Identifying potential LGBT and
LGBT-supportive candidates and supporting their campaigns and after election
C. Creating and aiding a caucus of LGBT and LGBT-supportive legislators
D. Promoting all candidates' and
officeholders' awareness or, education about, and support for, issues of concern to the LBGT community
E. Developing an LGBT network with
two coordinators in 5 regions- covering the entire state- to develop regional social and political activities, to serve on
the state board of directors, and to act as a liaisons between their regions and the statewide organization
- F. Developing and/or assisting
efforts to register supportive voters and to mobilize their turnout at the polls
4. Work cooperatively with the
New Hampshire Democratic party
5. Work cooperatively with the National Stonewall Democrats
organization
6. Work cooperatively with other LGBT and other supportive (or potentially supportive)
organizations within our state and region.
7. To develop and carry out recruitment to expand
our membership, and to keep our members active and involved
8. Develop and carry out fundraising
needed to implement our objectives.
